Africa’s Cowfoot!!! is an exclusive cabaret night of African Storytelling peppered with live traditional african music.
The best African Storytellers will be taking you into the magical, vibrant, colourful and mystical world of Africa! All with genuine humour : Laughs and entertainment guaranteed by this inspiring performance!
The show has been written and is orchestred by Usifu Jalloh, energetic, funny, and deeply inspiring storytelling performer from Sierra Leone. With a mix of drumming, singing and a captivating narrative style Usifu takes the audience through the magic and nostalgia of childhood emotions using contemporary elements that have influenced his life.
Also on stage Alim Kamara, a young modern griot bringing fresh the ancient lyrics of Africa to the modern world. Audience members have described him as “inspirational” “relevant” and “heartfelt with stage presence”. If you are listening out for a “stop, rewind, and play that again” type of artist’, Alim Kamara is here.
The soulful singer and actress Ayo-Dele Edwards is part of the amazing performance too. This highly talented Nigerian Yoruba lady will make you go kpata kpata with her passionate voice. She is one of the most versatile and sort after up coming must see artists in UK at the moment.
And joining them on stage, last but not least, world-class tanzanian Mbira player Saidi Kanda.
• AFRICA’S COWFOOT EDUCATIONAL WORK
In addition to the show, Africa’s Cowfoot!!! offers up to a week workshops in schools and community venues leading up to a final performance with the professional artists.
The workshops could either be dance, music, storytelling or poetry & creative writing.
Workshops can happen in schools and/or in the theatre premises.
Each workshop is intended to encourage the pupils to work as a team to produce individual and collective pieces perform with the professional artists in the final AFRICA’S COWFOOT!!! show.
Children are encouraged to develop effective communication skills, performance presentation.
Workshops are led and done by Usifu Jalloh & Alim Kamara who have a vast experience in delivering performance workshops over the past 26 years.

• ABOUT USIFU JALLOH
Usifu is a professional actor, dancer, percussionist and storyteller, whose unique skills introduce audiences and participants to West African traditions and cultures. An effervescent personality, Usifu‘s background in theatre makes him an ideal and dynamic workshop leader. His workshops combine elements of drumming, dancing, storytelling and games to uplift, inspire and educate youngsters and adults alike.
A well-known face on the culturally diverse arts scene, Usifu has made two short films on the subject of refugees. The most recent was Journey Man (sponsored by the Arts Council, Wales), which starred Usifu alongside Ruth Madoc. The film has been shown at several international festivals and has won five awards to date. Usifu also made Lion Mountain in collaboration with BBC2, about two Sierra Leone refugee youngsters in England.
